A Lady's Pub Guide to London

The Fellow (Kings Cross)

The Fellow (Kings Cross)

I stumbled across this one on a rainy evening while trying to find a place that wasn’t completely rammed around Kings Cross after work during the London Christmas season - no easy feat. When we first got there, it was crowded, but not intolerably so. We were able to find a spot in a corner that wasn’t too busy, and within about 15-20 minutes, a seat freed up in the corner - ideal for sipping a pint and having a chat. Despite the crowd in this pub, the wait staff are SUPER dog friendly, and will go out of their way to ensure the comfort of your canine pal, so a great spot for little pups in an otherwise busy spot!

Try this beer: Lowless Unfiltered Lager.

The Beer. As would be expected in a pub around Kings Cross, the beer selection is pretty generic. But they do still have UK favourites, including a couple choice selections from Beavertown (Neck Oil and typically a seasonal), Meantime (London Lager, London Pale) and the Camden standard selection.

The Ambiance. It’s always got a buzzing crowd at this pub. Kings Cross in general is a pretty bussing area - a central meeting point for post-work drinks, tourists, and the trendy tech crowd coming home from the office. It’s a very mixed crowd, but a friendly one any night of the week in this pub.

The Food. I’ve never eaten here, but I’ve enviously watched food come to other tables and while it’s pub food, it looks like a good pub food selection. However, the number reserved tables with people eating food is definitely a sign that this is more than just a boozer, and the constantly busy kitchen is always a good sign of the food here.

Any extras. They are super doggy friendly. Bring your pup here and they will be more than accommodating! Note: there isn’t a TV here, so this is not a place to go to watch a match of any sort.

And the wrap up. This is a go-to pub for me in the Kings Cross neighbourhood. It’s always got a good buzz, never empty, but never so packed you can’t find a good spot to at least stand. It’s tucked away around the corner from the more popular going out areas of Kings Cross, but definitely worth a stop in if you’re looking for something a little bit more hidden away!
Average price per pint: £5.60
